Penkhull-born Sir Oliver Lodge was a highly regarded scientist, pioneer of radio and electromagnetic radiation, and inventor of the spark plug. Unusually, given his background, he was also a major proponent in belief in spiritualism. Local historian, Phil Rowley, presents a fascinating talk about the scientist's life and works in the village that still has a strong association with his legacy. |
